When Did "I Don't Eat Breakfast" Become a Flex?

There was a time skipping breakfast meant you were running late.

Now it means you're disciplined. Optimized. Doing the 16:8. Intermittent fasting, have you heard of it?

Somewhere between 2018 and now, not eating became an identity.

And if you're eating breakfast? Tch. Still living in the past.

How We Got Here

Intermittent fasting is real. For some people, in the right context, it works.

But somewhere along the way it stopped being a tool and became a tribe.

Skip breakfast = serious about health.
Eat breakfast = not really trying.

Diet culture needed a new villain after carbs got boring.

Breakfast volunteered.

Subah ka khaana, jo kabhi sabse zaroori tha — ab suspect ho gaya.

The Problem With Making Food a Personality

When you stop eating breakfast because it works for your body — valid.

When you stop eating breakfast because it makes you feel superior in a group chat — different thing entirely.

One is a choice. The other is a costume.

And your body pays for it later.

You're not hungry at 7am.
But by 11 you're raiding the office pantry.
By 1 you're overeating at lunch.
By 3 you're blaming your metabolism.

Intermittent fasting nahi hua yaar. Bas breakfast skip hua.

What Your Body Actually Wants

Here's the unsexy truth.

Some people genuinely thrive by skipping breakfast.
Some people genuinely fall apart without it.

Both are real.
Both are valid.

The mistake is deciding which one you are based on a podcast instead of your own body.

Your hunger cues are data.
Ignoring them to fit an aesthetic isn't discipline.

It's just noise with a timer on it.

The Only Question Worth Asking

Not — "Am I eating in the right window?"

But — "Am I actually fueled for my day?"

If the answer is yes, you're fine.
If the answer is no, the window doesn't matter.
