The Post-Biryani Slump Is Real and It Deserves Respect.

The nap after isn't optional. It's earned.

Hello Broskiis!

Welcome to the twenty-fifth edition of Tastes Like a Cheat Meal. You can read the others here – https://newsletter.proskii.in/.

If you're new here, this is Proskii's weekly newsletter. Both me (Yash) and Rohit hate long emails, so we keep these short and promise not to spam your loving soul.

SACH MAI!! AMRITSARI CHOLE KULCHO KI KASAM.

and what did we learn 🤨

You Know the Feeling

It's 2pm on a Sunday.

The biryani was perfect, raita was cold, company was solid.

And now you're horizontal.

Not tired exactly.
Not full exactly.
Just… gone.

Couch mein dhaas gaye. Phone bhi uthana mushkil lag raha hai.

This is the slump.

What's Actually Happening

Your body just did something enormous.

A big, carb-heavy, oil-rich meal hits your system and your blood rushes to your gut to deal with it.

Less blood everywhere else.
Including your brain.

Add the heat.
Add the emotional fullness of a good meal with people you like.

Aur phir toh gaye kaam se.

This isn't laziness.
This is biology doing exactly what it's supposed to do.

Why We Fight It Anyway

Here's the funny part.

The slump hits and immediately the guilt follows.

"I shouldn't have eaten that much." "I need to go for a walk." "Tomorrow I'm being strict."

As if the solution to enjoying a meal is punishing yourself after it.

Yaar. Let the biryani land in peace.

The guilt doesn't burn calories.
It just ruins the memory of a good meal.

The only thing that really changes this?
What you ate before.

Not avoiding biryani.
Not portion control at a dawat.
Not a post-meal walk that lasts exactly 4 minutes.

Just — what you ate before.

When your first meal of the day actually had protein in it, the crash after a heavy lunch is softer. Less dramatic. Your blood sugar wasn't already all over the place before the biryani showed up.

The biryani didn't betray you.
The breakfast did.

Subah ka khana, dopahar ko protect karta hai.
