Everywhere you look - gym bros, fitness reels, even your neighbour’s cat … everyone’s suddenly screaming “Protein! Protein!”

But how much do you actually need before your kidneys start filing complaints?

🍳 The Protein Basics

Protein = your body’s building blocks. It repairs muscles, skin, hair, nails, and even helps make hormones and enzymes.

But more ≠ always better

Science says:

🧍‍♀ Average adult → 0.8g per kg of body weight/day → (70kg person = ~56g protein/day)

🏋‍♂ Active folks → 1.2–1.6g per kg/day → (70kg = 84–112g protein/day)

❌ Beyond 2g per kg/day = usually no extra benefits — and if you already have kidney issues, it can cause strain.

👉 Moral of the story: protein shakes ≠ Pepsi. Don’t overdo it

⚠ The “High Protein” Trap

Today, everything screams High Protein! from cookies to water (and even momo) But here’s what they don’t tell you:

  • Your body needs consistent, not infinite protein.

  • Too much processed meat or “protein junk food” isn’t heart-friendly.
    The real magic = balanced meals + movement + recovery.

Basically, don’t let marketing decide your macros😎

While one might suit someone and other might not, both are cool

It’s not about which protein, it’s about how much and how consistently you get it.
