The Annual Reset

It starts the same way every year.

Someone in your group chat mentions a juice cleanse. Your Instagram fills up with "Day 3 of my detox 🌿" The pharmacy suddenly has an entire shelf dedicated to "cleansing teas."

And somewhere, deep inside, you think —

Haan yaar, mujhe bhi karna chahiye.

What We Think Detox Does

The idea is clean.

Flush out the bad stuff. Start fresh. Give the body a break.

Except your body never actually stopped doing this.

Your liver. Your kidneys. Your lymphatic system.

They've been detoxing since the day you were born.
No juice required. No ₹1,200 teatox kit. No 10-day reset program.

Free of cost. No subscription needed.

So Why Does It Feel Like It Works?

Because it kind of does.

Just not for the reasons you think.

When you "detox," you usually:

Cut out alcohol. Drink more water. Eat less processed food. Sleep more intentionally.

Of course you feel better.

But that's not the detox working. That's just… basic nutrition doing its thing.

The cleanse didn't fix you. The habits around it did.

Jahaan credit detox ko jaata hai, wahan kaam hydration ne kiya hota hai.

The Real Reason We Love Detoxes

It's not about the science.

It's about the ritual.

Starting something. Feeling in control. Having a plan with a beginning and an end.

That psychological reset is genuinely valuable.

The problem is when the ritual replaces the habit.

You detox for 7 days. Feel great. Go back to exactly what you were doing before. Repeat next April.

Rinse and repeat. Literally.

What Actually Helps

You don't need a cleanse.

You need consistency that doesn't require suffering.

Water. Protein. Sleep. Movement.

Boring? Yes. Effective? Embarrassingly so.

The best "detox" is a morning that sets the tone — one that doesn't require willpower, a blender, or ₹800.
